The coaching market in Dubai and the UAE
Dubai and Abu Dhabi have one of the busiest racquet-sport scenes in the world: private academies, hotel and beach-club programmes, school enrichment programmes and a padel community that keeps growing. Roles on the TNA board range from academy and school coaches to female-coach positions and commission-based roles for coaches who build their own client base.
Salaries, hours and pay models
Monthly pay on the 13 live roles runs from about $2,000 to $8,000 (converted to USD). UAE roles usually follow one of three pay models:
- Fixed monthly salary — predictable income with set weekly hours.
- Pay by monthly hours — the more hours you coach, the more you earn.
- Commission — a share of lesson revenue, with the highest ceiling for coaches who bring in and keep clients.
The UAE does not charge personal income tax on salaries, so the figure you are offered is close to what you take home. Rent is the biggest cost of living in Dubai, so weigh housing when you compare packages.
Work visas and permits
Coaching in the UAE requires an employment residence visa sponsored by your employer, followed by a medical fitness test and an Emirates ID. Under UAE labour law the employer covers the work permit and visa costs — you should never be asked to pay recruitment fees.
Private lessons outside your contract usually need your employer's written permission or a separate freelance permit. Some employers allow freelance coaching outside working hours; when they do, the role says so.

- A recognised coaching qualification — ITF-recognised national federation, PTR, RPT or USPTA
- Experience coaching children and running group sessions
- Strong English and a professional, customer-facing manner — many clients are families and hotel guests
- For padel roles, a padel coaching qualification or a competitive playing background
- Some programmes hire female coaches specifically for women's and girls' groups
