Tennis coaching jobs in the United States
US opportunities on the TNA board are with private clubs, academies and seasonal resort programmes — currently in Seattle, San Jose, Seattle, The Hamptons, Los Angeles and Bay Area. Pay is often hourly, and busy summer programmes can guarantee several coaching hours a day.
How US coaching roles pay
Hourly roles on the board pay about $48–$58 an hour. Salaried and monthly-equivalent roles run from about $3,000 to $8,000 a month. Always check how many hours are guaranteed — it matters as much as the rate.
Work authorisation and visas
You need US work authorisation to coach in the United States. Some employers sponsor a visa, and when they do it is stated on the role. The routes you will hear about most:
- H-1B — for professional roles that usually require a relevant bachelor’s degree; most employers are subject to an annual cap and lottery.
- O-1 — for coaches with an exceptional, well-documented record, for example at tour level.
- Seasonal and exchange routes — some summer and resort programmes use seasonal or cultural-exchange visas.
US immigration rules are complex and change often, so treat this as orientation and take specific advice from the employer’s immigration attorney.
Certifications US clubs recognise
The two main US coaching certifications are USPTA and PTR. ITF-recognised national qualifications are respected too, and international coaches can add a USPTA or PTR certification once they are in the country.
